Teaching Philosophy

It is a privilege to be an educator. Children are the future and quality, equal education is their right. It is in the music classroom that we best learn about collaboration, practicing our social skills, enjoying the arts, and creating. Excellence and equity in scholarship are vital within our schools, and the music classroom is no exception. Students should be provided the space to explore, experience, and create music and movement. Especially in the general music classroom, music should be used to tell stories and experience literature in a unique way. It should be used to grow the mind and supplement fundamental learning in reading and communication. Music in schools also offers opportunities to bring the community together and share themes of unity, kindness, joy, and positivity.
